VACCINE: Cause for pause

| December 18, 2020 1:00 AM

Thank you to the Consumer Gal for shining a light on the liability protections given to COVID vaccine manufacturers. I did not know the PREP act offered such broad immunity; sadly the Coeur d’Alene Press did not know either.

In the Nov. 23 Press, there was a Q and A with three vaccine “experts” where it was stated, “companies that end up bringing the vaccine to market will be responsible if they produce a product that causes harm.”

Even with normal vaccines, manufacturers can’t be sued but claims go to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Board. With COVID vaccines, the protections appear even more sweeping.

I hope the vaccines will be safe and effective, but given the speed of development and approval combined with liability protection for the manufacturers, I will not be in a hurry to receive the vaccine.
