CROSS COUNTRY
North Idaho Cross Country runners shined this past weekend at the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Paris, Ky., Dec. 12-13.
Over 1,700 runners ages 7-18 across the United States competed against the nation’s top runners on the Bourbon County Park course.
NIXC brought 20 athletes ages 10-14 and competed against much larger teams.
NIXC posted two podium finishes (one national champion, Max Cervi-Skinner and one third-place finisher), eight All-Americans, a first-place team, the boys 13-14 team, and a second-place team.
“NIXC has a legacy of excellence," coach Erin Lydon Hart said. "Despite training through challenging COVID-19 obstacles, we dominated our races this weekend and further cemented our dynasty as a gritty, hill-loving team. Spectators couldn’t help but notice the sea of NIXC red on the race course and on the sidelines cheering. Our parents truly made this season happen.”
