Near some different holiday lights — Orchard Park
The Neighborhood of the Week Christmas Season spectacular continues with a guide to more homes near spectacular light displays.
Last week, we searched (and searched and searched) for available homes near The Coeur d’Alene Resort’s world-renowned light display on the Lake Coeur d’Alene Boardwalk. It’s always a challenge in the high-demand area.
Now for something completely different… as in a whole different state. Just a short jaunt across the stateline is the Winter Glow Spectacular in Liberty Lake. Winter Glow began in downtown Spokane in 2014 but has recently moved closer for North Idaho residents to enjoy… Liberty Lake’s newest recreation area, Orchard Park, located just northwest of the Liberty Lake exit of Interstate 90.
The Winter Glow Spectacular is a large collection of lights and festive displays, all courtesy of a devoted group of volunteers. The free display is all outdoors but is also easily seen by car for those not wanting to take any unnecessary public outings during the current COVID-19 surge.
Orchard Park is located at 20298 E. Indiana Ave. and connects to the city’s ever-growing River District community. Greenstone in the River District continues to make significant progress in the area along the Spokane River. Neighborhoods include a 55-plus gated community, single family homes, apartments and townhomes, as well as a planned commercial town center.
There are several pre-sold listings for three-bedroom townhomes near the park, listed at $385,000 for a little under 1,700 square feet. You can find more information on River District West, as well as the 55-plus community Trutina by visiting Greenstonehomes.com/community-river-district.
Another recent (although pending) listing near the park is a three-bedroom single-family home on a cul-de-sac with just under 1,200 square feet priced around $330,000. A very similar home is also pending a block or so west, priced at, you guessed it, around $330,000. Go a few blocks southwest (and still technically in the Liberty Lake city limits) and you’ll find another similar home (also pending) with a price of $260,000.
There are larger homes in the neighborhood that go for much more money, typically in the $400,000 range for 2,000-square-foot homes and upward of $600,000 for even larger properties. The Washington housing market, particularly Liberty Lake and properties close to Idaho are just as high in demand.
If you want to find a little bit of savings, head a little west to the river districts of Greenacres and Spokane Valley. For example, an almost 3,000-square-foot home built in the 1990s with six bedrooms is priced at $400,000. A new construction home in the Base Camp development of Greenacres touts three bedrooms, 1,850 square feet, quality finishes and a three-car garage comes priced at $403,000. Stay tuned for more holiday fun this December in Neighborhood of the Week, including listings and more information about the Sunset RV Park display in Post Falls.
