Celebrate Dancegiving!

| December 2, 2020 1:00 AM

The Post Falls High School Dance Team and the Spirit Dance Team recently held a dance competition to help the homeless. The effort netted food, winter clothing, and personal hygiene supplies from students and the community.

Members of the dance team delivered 750 items to the Heritage Health Street Medicine Program last week.

"We wanted to have our DanceGiving event be equal parts dance and giving," said Heidi Wagner, the head varsity dance team coach. "We looked around for local partnerships that all attending teams could contribute to that would benefit surrounding communities."

Wagner said she reached out to a friend, Kala Hall, who was involved in the homeless outreach program. She provided information needed to start collecting donations.

Heritage Health's homeless patients need winter clothing and other supplies, said Hall, an outreach worker with Street Medicine.

"We're so grateful to the Post Falls High School dance teams for their amazing donation drive," Hall said. "These things truly make a big difference. The winter coats will keep our patients warm and healthy."
