PHD: 57 new cases

The Panhandle Health District reported 57 new cases and one more death attributed to the coronavirus on Tuesday.

That brings the PHD’s total cases to 2,649, with 2,199 of those closed.

The number of deaths attributed to the virus is 39, with 27 of those in Kootenai County. Thirty-five of the deaths are people over the age of 70, while four were in the 60-60 age group.

PHD reported there are 18 people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Kootenai Health, with four in critical care.

Kootenai County now has 2,105 cases, Bonner has 210, Benewah is at 210, Shoshone has 191 and Boundary has 42 cases.

Health officials remind people to wear masks, wash hands and practice social distancing to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
