Robert Wayne Campbell

| August 23, 2020 1:00 AM

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Bob.

Robert Wayne Campbell, “Bob,” was given life by his creator and was born on July 1, 1946, the child of William and Elizabeth Campbell, the first of four children. He served his country in the Vietnam War with the Army’s 1st Cavalry Division, from 1966-1972.

Brought to the faith by a friend as a young adult, he received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On Aug. 9, 1986, he received the gift of a beloved companion, his spouse, Claudia Lynn. He was blessed with the gift of three children: Christian, Jennifer and Rebecca, their spouses, and six grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Pop-Pop.” God blessed Bob’s life with many special people as he served God in his vocations at home, church, work and in the community.

Finally, on Aug. 14, 2020, God blessed Bob with a holy death and took him home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our friend, brother, father and husband, Bob.

A memorial service was held for Bob on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in San Angelo, with Chaplain Jonathan Shour officiating.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held at a later time at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
