Woman injured in roadway on I-90 near Pinehurst
PINEHURST — A Kellogg woman was injured after being struck by a pickup truck as she attempted to remove items from Interstate 90 near Pinehurst on Saturday, Idaho State Police reported.
Connie Schrock, 60, was eastbound on I-90 around 11:20 a.m. when she noticed items in the roadway which had come from another vehicle, near milepost 45, police reported. Schrock and her husband entered the interstate on foot to retrieve the items.
A 2017 Ram 3500 driven by Glenn Mikkelson, 60, of Pocatello, saw Schrock in the roadway, applied his brakes and swerved to the right to try to avoid contact, police reported. Schrock stood up at that time and turned into the side of Mikkelson’s vehicle, which was traveling an estimated 50 mph at the time of impact, police reported.
Schrock received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, then by air ambulance to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, police reported. Her condition was not available at press time.
Schrock was the only person injured in the crash, which remains under investigation, police reported.
