VIRUS: Team effort required

| August 7, 2020 1:00 AM

The coronavirus is real. It’s weird, it’s scary and sometimes it’s deadly.

One of our family members had it for more than three weeks, with more time needed to recover from its effects. A family member of a friend had it for less than a week and recovered. Two of my acquaintances had it, one severely, and then recovered. My niece’s friend had it and died. This is the reality of COVID-19.

Because this virus is so new and so mysterious, there is little we can do about it except use common sense about hygiene and healthy living. So far as we know now, that includes careful hand washing, avoiding contacts with those who have been or may have been exposed to the virus, and wearing clean masks in public in case we may have knowingly or unknowingly come in contact with the virus.

When health care professionals like Dr. Richard McLandress and nurse Jai Nelson emphasize this common sense, doesn’t it make sense for us to pay attention?

Please, folks, let’s all do what we can to take care of ourselves and each other! Let’s work together here!
