SCHOOLS: Start the competition

Finally! After decades of ever declining public schools, our Supreme Court has taken the step which will level the playing field for American kids and their families. Tax money will now be distributed also to private and religious schools. Public schools will have to “compete” for the cash! About four months ago, this paper reported that Idaho has “the worst” public schools in the nation. This newspaper nor District 271 ever mentioned it again — even after the district failed an evaluation.

The Editor of the Press once pointed out in a public setting that the writer of this article makes statements about our public schools in a way that he (the editor) would not. Indeed, this paper’s absence of comment about inadequate District 271 schools surely has everything to do with their chronic under-performance. Such liberal apathy and indifference of Coeur d’Alene schools and public schools across the nation will likely change now as “only the best schools” will now win the tax dollars.
