NEIGHBORHOOD OF THE WEEK — Summer living on Lake Cd’A: Part 6
Southside and Conkling
Our summer vacation on Lake Coeur d’Alene comes to a close this week. After stays in Rockford Bay, Arrow Point, Harrison and more, it’s time to celebrate the southside, specifically the Conkling Park area.
Bob Stravens, a real estate agent with Century 21 Beutler & Associates, has had extensive experience selling and recreating at Conkling.
“Conkling Park dates back a long, long time, and there’s been new phases that have gone in,” Stravens said. “I remember visiting Conkling Park when I was a young man. It’s got a neat history.”
It isn’t as far away as you think, either. Located about 7 miles off Highway 95 near Worley, it takes about 45 minutes by car from Coeur d’Alene. Many, however, come by boat. The Conkling Marina and Resort is home to 250 boat slips with fuel and maintenance/repair available on site. RV parking and cabin/vacation rentals are also available.
People also come for lakeside dining at the popular Steamboat Grill and Starboard Lounge. Live music is a consistent presence on summer weekends as well. Get more information on moorage, music schedule and more at ConklingMarina.net.
Conkling serves as an essential pit stop for boaters looking to cruise the southside’s St. Joe River.
Homes in the area don’t typically sit for long. Straven has a listing for a two-bedroom cabin with excellent lake views that’s just steps from the community beach. The list price is $395,000 and includes a covered boat slip. Some homes that come available in the area tout leased boat slips, and the Harmon addition subdivision includes its own set of slips for some owners, Stravens said.
Stravens said the area attracts both year-round residents and those in search of recreation properties. The area is popular for residents on the Palouse and Lewiston, he said.
“It’s convenient lake access,” Stravens said.
Other recent listings include a four-bedroom waterfront home with more than 2,700 square feet listed for $729,000. A three-bedroom, almost 1,700-square-foot home with filtered lake views located just a few blocks from the marina is priced at $445,000. Another three-bedroom home with more than 2,900 square feet and some filtered lake views is listed at just under $600,000.
Just a couple active lot listings at the moment, including a 2.33-acre option near the marina listed for $150,000. Another almost 1-acre lot with lake views is available for just under $125,000.
