Apply for elk, deer controlled hunts

| April 30, 2020 1:00 AM

Idaho hunters regardless if they are chosen to hunt elk in a controlled zone must wait to five days after the drawing to buy remaining elk tags.

Applications for controlled deer, elk, pronghorn and fall bear hunts start Friday and runs though June 5.

Controlled hunts have a limited number of tags allocated and the winners are chosen in a random drawing, while a general season hunt allows unlimited numbers of hunters to purchase tags over the counter.

Hunters can apply for the controlled hunts for a month beginning May 1 by paying a nonrefundable $6.25 application fee for residents and $14.75 for nonresidents.
