VIRUS: It doesn’t add up
Garbage in, garbage out. I was first introduced to that phrase 40 years ago in a computer programming class and it is just as true now as it was then.
This shutdown is based on a computer model, and a flawed one. The projections have been revised down until at present the fatality rate is identical to a bad flu season. I would be interested to know what assumptions were factored into the original model, but have been unable to find that info.
We are told repeatedly that thousands of people have had this and didn’t even know it. If that is true, it simply isn’t possible to ascertain an accurate percentage of fatalities, etc. Without a denominator (total cases), determining a percentage of fatalities cannot be done.
The national media is treating this much like the AIDS epidemic of the ’80s. They tried to convince the public that anyone could get it even though the pool of people truly at risk was identified and known, just like now.
I noticed the people forcing others not to work are still collecting paychecks. Their retirement is just as guaranteed as it ever was.
I believe this virus is potentially dangerous. I also believe no politician cares more about my health and well-being than I do. This one size fits all approach is stupid. If a restaurant wants to scale back their number of tables, fine. It should be up to me to decide if I want to eat there.
