It’s always about family

Meet the Craig-Johnson-Johnson-Nelson ladies, four generations who gathered in Coeur d’Alene and had this timeless photo published April 24, 1942.

Back then, newspapers like The Press found four-generation family photos newsworthy. And guess what? This one still does.

The more modern Coeur d’Alene Press has also, on occasion, shared five-generation photos. But it seems this practice from the past has sadly drifted almost entirely to social media.

Once families are allowed to gather en masse again, please keep in mind that your local newspaper would love to publish photos of four or more generations gathered together. Unlike the Craig-Johson-Johnson-Nelson assembly, we might even print them in living color.
