Jason Thomas Peebles

| April 18, 2020 1:00 AM

Jason Thomas Peebles, 48, passed away on April 13, 2020. He was born Sept. 13, 1971, in Davenport, Wash., to Tim and Margo Peebles. He spent his first five years in Davenport, then a year in Pullman, Wash., and then the remainder of his life in Coeur d’Alene and Hayden, Idaho.

Jason graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1990. He was a two-sport athlete in high school, football and wrestling, and was coached in both sports by his father, Tim. Jason attended North Idaho College for two years, where he graduated, and then went on to Lewis-Clark State College, where he graduated with a BA in elementary education. He got his first teaching job at Hayden Meadows Elementary School. He taught second grade there for more than 25 years.

Jason never married or had any children. His children were the second-graders, who he loved dearly. At various times in the summer he worked on The Coeur d’Alene Resort cruise boats. He was an avid Star Wars nerd, an avid WWF wrestling fan and an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. One entire room in his house was dedicated to those three interests. He loved to fish with his dad, he loved his mother’s cooking, and he loved spoiling his brother, Max’s kids and his sister, Dena’s kids, who all loved their Uncle Jason dearly. Most of his life was dedicated to teaching those second-graders; he was a dedicated teacher.

Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Margo. He is survived by his father, Tim; his sister, Dena; his brother, Max and sister-in-law, Jessica; nephews Brad and Ben; nieces, Sydney and Camren; and hundreds of former second-grade students who he always claimed were successful because they received the best second-grade education that any kid could ever have gotten.

Memorial services are pending due to current statewide restrictions.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Jason’s online memorial at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com and sign his guest book.
