SCHOOLS: Superior leadership

| April 17, 2020 1:00 AM

I have three children in the Coeur d’Alene School District, and have had many concerns and questions regarding how grades are going to be calculated, especially for my high school student where any decision made will have college placement implications. After attending the school board meeting that was set up on April 15 via Zoom, I would like to share my main takeaway.

We have some truly great leaders in charge of making decisions for our children, from all of the trustees to the principals at our local high schools. During the discussion, they fully considered and discussed all of my concerns, and it is very clear that they are taking careful consideration for students across each unique situation, grade level and learning type.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of them, and let them know after attending the meeting that I am fully confident that the best decision on grades will come forth.

As far as support from our teachers, they have been amazing with adapting to engage our kids as well. During times of crises, heroes emerge as they have with all of our local school leaders!
