VIRUS: Calling for cooperation
There has been nothing but praise not only from the governor but other news outlets about how people are doing the right thing with the stay-home order. However, I live in one of the ever-growing developments and see the very opposite. Kids going from home to home playing in groups, each one a possible carrier of the virus. Consistent gatherings of neighbors. I myself am surrounded on all sides by families completely disregarding the order.
While the order is not enforced, maybe an article describing that when we make it through this as communities it won’t be through the sacrifice or dedication of everyone. As I worked in my driveway and a neighbor walked by, I tried to practice social distancing and with a peculiar look I said, “Not being rude, just trying to do my part.” His response had me in disbelief when he stated he didn’t even think the virus was real. It took all I had not to express how disrespectful that was not only to average people but to the doctors and nurses around the world.
Which leads me to why I am writing you. I have no voice in this community, but the Coeur d’Alene Press does. Maybe people need to feel a little ashamed before they start to think how every single person makes a difference. Thank you for your time and consideration.
