COVID-19: 2 million cases reported globally

The total number of COVID-19 cases surpassed two million worldwide on Wednesday, according to to Johns Hopkins University.

As new cases of COVID-19 are reported, an interactive map developed by Johns Hopkins University provides near real-time tracking. The map pulls information from a range of sources to provide twice-daily updates.

The most recent update at 7:54 a.m. on April 15 counted 2,006,513 confirmed cases worldwide.

Countries with the most confirmed cases include:

- United States — 609,995

- Spain — 177,633

- Italy — 162,488

The map also tracks deaths and recoveries.

Worldwide, 128,886 people have died from COVID-19, including 26,119 people in the United States.

Currently, more than 500,000 people have recovered worldwide.
