LAKE: No need to wait

| April 12, 2020 1:00 AM

In response to the recent articles and editorials, we do not need another study for two to three years for a report on Lake Coeur d’Alene/Bunker Hill Superfund. Actions need to be taken NOW.

I sincerely believe, after attending the Our Gem Symposium and recent Coeur d’Alene Basin Commission presentation, we could get better results with several facilitated panels of local and state experts followed by a couple pubic review meetings. We have plenty of local experts who have worked, studied and lived in the basin, many for 20 to 30 years. They could develop the consensus areas, needed plans for action, and what monitoring and studies might be needed. The funds for a large study would be better used for local management and cleanup project work.
