SHERIFF: Who dares to lead?
My observation of the four Republican candidates during the COVID-19 pandemic affecting our country.
In February, I attended a COVID-19 public event at the Best Western hosted by candidate Robert Norris. Norris said he conducted a predictive analysis of this event and asked the audience to leave with four takeaways:
1. The next 45-60 days would be very telling for the event.
2. Prepare for possibly staying home for extended periods.
3. Be informed.
4. Be calm.
This simple advice could help manage the situation by not panicking. The best advice from all the candidates.
Since the Norris event in February, I’ve seen a John Grimm video where he said a stage 5 alert was going to be ordered, and wherever we were on the interstate, we would have to shelter in place on the road. That video since caused an uproar with panicked residents calling the Sheriff’s Office for guidance, the results of his irresponsible and inaccurate video making the local news.
I heard nothing from Candidate Richard Whitehead until the other day, when he stated the stay-home order is a violation of our First and Fourth Amendment rights. Nobody is violating anybody’s rights. We’re in a situation where foolish decisions can cost many of our elders their lives and overwhelm Kootenai Health from being able to help everyone in need.
It’s a time for common sense to prevail, not irresponsible leadership to endanger people’s health.
Kim Edmondson — Nothing.
Norris for Sheriff.
