North Idaho has first COVID-19 patient
Panhandle Health District reported Tuesday that the first COVID-19 patient in the region has been hospitalized in Bonner General Health in Sandpoint.
Earlier reports that a patient had also been hospitalized at Kootenai Health were apparently incorrect.
“I did confirm that we have no current inpatient,” hospital spokesperson Kim Anderson said Tuesday afternoon. “We did have one come through this weekend as suspect, then discharged before results came back positive.”
Also Tuesday, Panhandle Health District confirmed its third COVID-19 case in Bonner County, with one person hospitalized.
Kootenai County has 42 confirmed cases. With Bonner County’s three confirmed cases, there are 45 total cases in Panhandle Health District’s five northern counties. So far, Shoshone, Benewah and Boundary County have no confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Kootenai County hasn’t had a new confirmed case in two days, and just one in the past four days.
