SENATOR: Compassion lacking

| April 5, 2020 1:00 AM

Dear Sen. Souza: I read Chuck Malloy’s column regarding the impact coronavirus is having on your business in particular and the economy in general. Let mine be the first email that lauds Gov. Little’s declaration. Let me also be the first to congratulate you on getting “cash flow” and “employee needs” in the same sentence.

I assume this interview took place several days ago because:

Other than those nameless individuals who panned Little’s decision to limit their ability to spread the virus, you never mention your constituency.

More than 600 Idahoans and more than 30 Kootenai County residents have tested positive for COVID, yet you express no concern for their well-being.

I’ve read enough of Mr. Malloy’s columns to know that’s not something he would omit had you voiced concern for the health and well-being of Lake City residents.

It seems you would understand that if the social-distancing mandates are not adhered to, things are going to get much worse and last much longer. Instead, you promote actions that would only exacerbate an already-overwhelming disaster.

Let me be the first to offer my sincere wish that you are voted out of office before your greed, ego and short-sightedness decimate your constituency.

DARREL BEEHNER
