Eunice Bernice Stottlemyre, 89

Eunice Bernice Stottlemyre died peacefully in her home in Post Falls, Idaho, on March 29, 2020, after battling cancer. Bernice was born May 18, 1930, in rural Bethany, Mo., to Etta Mae Allen and Claude Stottlemyre. She was the youngest of six children and is preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Porter Stottlemyre, and her sisters, Anita (Stottlemyre) Haskins and Bonnie (Stottlemyre) Krebs.

She is survived by her sister, Betty (Stottlemyre) De Smet, who lives in Moline, Ill.

Bernice was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army at Monmouth N.J., where she was a cryptograph instructor. She then moved to Rock Island, Ill., where she was a keypunch operator for Farmall Tractors and also the Rock Island Railroad.

In 1974 she moved to Spokane, Wash., and then to her home on the prairie for the past 30 years. She was an avid bridge player and loved going to the casino with her friends and she also enjoyed feeding and watching birds.

She will be forever remembered by her children, Scott Allen Suhr (spouse, Sunshine Self) and Hayley Neece’ (Suhr) Lake-Hoerner (spouse, Jeffrey Hoerner) and close niece and family, Karla Walker of Coal Valley, Ill.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
