Woman accused of stabbing boyfriend
Magistrate issues no-contact order
A 42-year-old Coeur d’Alene woman who allegedly stabbed a man in the back in her apartment is in the county jail facing aggravated assault charges.
Bail was set at $25,000 for Victoria L. Inglehart at her initial appearance Thursday in Coeur d’Alene’s First District Court.
Prosecutors asked for $100,000 bail because Inglehart has a criminal record that includes incidents in Oregon and Kootenai County. Magistrate Robert Caldwell opted for a lower amount and ordered a no-contact order between Inglehart and the victim, Anthony Reyes, who police said suffered a collapsed lung.
Police responded Wednesday after midnight to an apartment building behind Lowe’s on the 3600 block of North Hudson Circle after receiving a call that someone was stabbed.
Inglehart’s 17-year-old son, who lives in the apartment with his mother, told dispatchers that his mother’s friend was stabbed with an unknown object while walking the dog, and was now lying on the floor in the apartment.
When police entered the apartment they found Reyes lying in a hallway near the bathroom, bleeding from his back and making gurgling sounds.
Both Inglehart and her son said Reyes was stabbed while outside by an unknown assailant, but a doorbell camera at a neighboring apartment showed Reyes had not left the apartment with the dog, police said.
After a series of interviews, Inglehart and her son both told officers that Inglehart had stabbed Reyes with a knife, police said.
The wound was about 3 inches deep and collapsed a lung, according to a report.
Reyes was transported to Kootenai Health.
Inglehart told officers that Reyes had been bringing people who she didn’t approve of to the apartment, and she felt her children could be in danger.
She and Reyes had a violent relationship and she felt “trapped by Anthony’s presence,” she told police.
After an argument, Reyes dropped the knife he carried in his waistband and Inglehart picked it up and stabbed Reyes, she told officers.
Her son hid the knife and told police Reyes had been stabbed outside because he didn’t want his mother to be in trouble, police said. The teen was not arrested.
The no-contact order, which goes into effect for a year if Inglehart is released from jail, prevents her from being within 300 feet of Reyes.
Inglehart’s next hearing is April 10 in First District Court.
