HANKS LAW: Foundation A-OK
On Jan. 8, a letter to the editor was posted regarding our foundation, Hanks Law Foundation. The letter stated basically that the foundation and its governing body, Jennifer Peacock and Dakota Goin, had engaged in “deceptive or misleading solicitations.” Neither the foundation nor its governing body engaged in any such activity. To clarify, the statement below is the response received from the Attorney General’s office. Our focus has always been to change Idaho laws to better protect our domestic animals. It is this endeavor we have strived to accomplish and will continue to do so.
Response from the Attorney General’s office to Hanks Law Foundation:
“To be clear, neither you nor Hank’s Law Foundation is under investigation by the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division for criminal or civil wrongdoing, and we are not investigating you or Hank’s Law Foundation for fraud or any other alleged charge. The procedure we initiated on the two complaints concerning Hank’s Law Foundation was our standard ‘informal voluntary dispute resolution’ procedure. This is the standard procedure we take on the 1,000 complaints we receive from the public each year. The only difference here is the complaints involve a charity rather than a business.
“At this time we do not anticipate taking further action.” — Stephanie N. Guyon, Deputy Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division
Hank’s Law and its governing body have been faced with a series of attacks. The individuals responsible for these attacks have made it their mission since leaving the foundation to undermine our goal, by spreading baseless accusations regarding the accountability of the foundation, with each and every one of these accusations being proven nothing but falsehoods. Hank’s Law would like nothing more than to move forward with our mission of changing Idaho’s weak animal cruelty laws, with community support and to continue to be the voice of the voiceless.
