ABORTION: Kindness or control?
On March 28, I read an article from the Associated Press: “Idaho governor OKs bill outlawing abortion if Roe reversed.” It was sponsored by Republican Sen. Todd Lakey, who has said, “the health of women is secondary to their unborn children.” Does he mean, so what if mommy dies — daddy rules?
I have noticed that primarily the “barefoot & pregnant” letters to newspapers are from men. Do they just love babies, or do they just want to control women?
I think there is a solution that could give rights, but not control, to both sexes. If a woman seeks an abortion, the provider of the service will attempt to locate the contributing daddy. Said daddy will be offered the opportunity of adopting his child and providing for it through college. However, if he can’t be found, or declines, the woman won’t be forced to give birth. Some Idaho Republicans also said they wanted abortion (even in cases of rape or incest) made illegal.
And, about me: Three children, no abortions, no miscarriages, no welfare.
