No new COVID-19 cases reported in Kootenai County

| April 2, 2020 5:05 PM

No new cases COVID-19 were reported in Kootenai County today. The total remains at 36 confirmed cases.

The Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management attributes the rate of spread — which is significantly slower than some other counties in Idaho — to the community’s compliance with Gov. Brad Little’s statewide stay-at-home order.

Though numbers have remained relatively low, this could change rapidly. Continuing to adhere to the guidelines issued by Gov. Little, as well as medical professionals, helps to slow the spread of the virus.

Those who begin to show symptoms associated with COVID-19 (cough, fever and difficulty breathing) must self-isolate. After symptoms subside, individuals must continue to self-isolate for 72 more hours.

Additionally, those who are tested for COVID-19 must self-isolate until they receive their results.

In a news release, the Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management said, “Thank you to everyone who is adhering to the stay-at-home order and protecting themselves and our most vulnerable populaion. Hopefully, soon we will defeat the coronavirus and see a return to our ‘normal’ way of life.”
