- The TDS retail store has opened at 2834 N. Ramsey Road, Suite 109, next door to Winco. A grand opening will be held Oct. 3 through Oct. 5 at the store. TDS is building a 700-mile fiber-optic network that will allow internet with speeds up to 1 gigabit in Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Hayden Lake, Post Falls and Rathdrum.

- The first Northwest Pet Expo in North Idaho is taking place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds. This one-day, interactive, family-friendly event will feature over 90 exhibitors, including a petting zoo, story corner, doggie fashion show and presentations by pet experts. - Attorney General Lawrence Wasden appointed Colleen Zahn as chief of the criminal law division. The appointment is effective immediately and follows the retirement of longtime division chief Paul Panther after 21 years in office.

- The 24th Annual Mayor’s Awards in the Arts is Oct. 9, presented by the Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission and the city of Coeur d’Alene to recognize and encourage excellence in the arts. The free event lasts from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hagadone Event Center, 900 S. Floating Green Drive.
