POST FALLS — Post Falls Highway District Road Supervisor Kelly Brownsberger, who began his career with the district in 1984, will retire at the end of January 2020.

The district has started to look for his replacement.

"After 36 years as an employee on the crew, assistant road supervisor and then road supervisor in May of 2005, Kelly is held in high regard of the commissioners, employees, residents and partners in the community," a highway district press release states.

"He has put the district’s best interests first as he makes all decisions while remaining considerate of individual requests."

Growth has been a transportation challenge in the Post Falls area.

"Kelly, under the board’s direction, has guided the budget to include a fleet management plan, a capital improvement plan and the first district transportation plan," the release states. "The board and employee expectations are nothing compared to the expectations he has of himself.

"His integrity in district dealings both internally and externally have earned him the highest respect among the community and in the state."

Projects under Brownsberger's leadership include: the five-lane Prairie Avenue; intersection safety improvements of roundabouts and signalization on the Rathdrum Prairie, bringing Beck Road up to all-weather standards and Seltice Way improvements.
