Hatley team is first alternate
to four-ball championship
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake and Jacob Koppenberg of Bellingham, Wash., are first alternates to the 2020 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship, scheduled for May 23-27 at the Philadelphia (Pa.) Cricket Club.
Hatley and Koppenberg finished in a three-way tie for first place at a sectional qualifier Wednesday at Chambers Bay, shooting a 7-under-par 64. But there were only two spots up for grabs for next year’s event from this sectional qualifier, and Hatley and Koppenberg were the odd team out in a playoff.
The sides of Britten Barker (Gig Harbor, Wash.) and Luke Easterly (Sammamish, Wash.) and John D’Amelio (Bothell, Wash.) and Tyler Matthews (Bellevue, Wash.) advanced.
