Franklin E. Parvin, 84
On Oct. 16, 2019, Franklin E. Parvin, loving husband, father and ‘PaPa,’ passed away at the age of 84.
Frank was born on Jan. 20, 1935, in Thomasville, Mo., to Lela and Elmo Parvin.
He grew up in the small town of Evening Shade, Ark., a place that he referred to as home throughout his life. His childhood was filled with happy memories of growing up in the Ozark Hills. Frank’s school years, from first grade on, were with lifelong friends that he spoke with often.
After graduating he moved to California and within a short time he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country from 1955 to 1958 as a radio technician and a teacher.
He left the military and returned to California where he met his wife, Alva, and they were married on Oct. 28, 1961. They started their family right away, with oldest daughter, Lacey, being born in 1962.
Frank went to night school and worked to provide for his family. He become a communication technician for PG & E.
In 1966 his second daughter, Xanna, was born and shortly after that, Frank became a hydroelectric powerhouse supervisor for Merced Irrigation District.
He raised his two daughters in the foothills of California, fishing, water skiing and riding motorcycles. Then came his favorite toy of all — his airplane, which he had dreamed about his whole life.
After retiring, Frank and his wife moved to Hayden, Idaho, where Frank always said, “This is God’s country.”
This is where he discovered playing Texas Hold’em. Frank and his wife played in many tournaments and had great games in their home with family and friends. They have resided in Hayden for 21 years.
Frank leaves behind his wife, Alva, of 57 years; two daughters: Lacey and Xanna; two grandchildren: Joshua and Maranda and two great-grandchildren: Alexis and Dakota; with many others thinking of him as their PaPa also.
He was loved by all and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
