PROPOSED TIMBER SALE CONTRACT Boulder Dash Pre-advertisement Idaho Panhandle National Forests Bonners Ferry Ranger District The Idaho Panhandle National Forests will be offering the Boulder Dash Timber Sale, during the fall/winter of 2019, with an anticipated advertisement date of mid Novenber. The contract area is 1,500 acres in size and is located in portions of Sections 18, 19, 20, 29, 30, 31, 32, T61N, R3E, and Section 25, T61N, R2E, of the Boise Meridian, in Boundary County Idaho, on the Bonners Ferry Ranger District. Harvest is planned on 462 cutting unit acres. The sale lies in the McGinty, Gable and Boulder Creek drainages. The sale area is located approximately 22 miles southeast of Bonners Ferry, Idaho accessed by city rd Ash St., county Katka rd 24, and FS Katka Road 314. This sale has been prepared under the direction of the Boulder Creek Restoration Environmental Assessment and Decision Notice, approved by the Forest Supervisor on October 29, 2018. The Boulder Creek Restoration Project is part of the broader Kootenai Valley Resource Initiative Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) occurring in the lower Kootenai River Watershed. The estimated sale volume is 25,224 Tons of sawlog material and 2,021 Tons of nonsawlog material. Volume estimates are subject to change. This sale will requires 33% skyline yarding (151 acres), 67% tractor logging (311 acres). Road reconstruction is required on 11.08 miles roads for a total specified road cost of $72,046. Three temporary roads will be constructed to access portions of sale units. The Normal Operating Season for harvest operations is December 1 to March 31, due to timing requirements for Grizzly Bear Mgt. This is an opportunity for prospective bidders to visit the area before it becomes inaccessible by snow.
