WOOD: Continue exemplary service

| October 13, 2019 1:00 AM

I’m supporting Christie Wood for Coeur d’Alene City Council Seat 1 for numerous reasons, but most important to me is her experience in local schools. Our community’s growth and overcrowded schools is a shared concern.

Christie is the only candidate with experience in our local schools and city business. She’s served on the Coeur d’Alene School Board and the Board of North Idaho College. She retired after 26 years as a Coeur d’Alene police officer. Most may not be aware Christie was instrumental in developing our School Resource Officer (SRO) partnership between the city of Coeur d’Alene and Coeur d’Alene Schools. SROs are sworn police officers working within an assigned school building. This was an innovative program still used as a model for other schools. Christie was the first officer assigned to Lake City High School. Her track record of experience and knowledge of Coeur d’Alene will only be an asset on city council.

I’ve known Christie as selfless, dedicated and always on the go. She is a strong leader with a compassionate understanding for those struggling to improve their quality of life. She has helped many youth in our area and encouraged the next generation of law enforcement protecting our community.

From the city’s streets on night patrol to school bells bookending the day, Christie thoroughly knows our community. Her track record of experience and knowledge of Coeur d’Alene is necessary on City Council. She understands how growth affects quality of life like our schools, our city and our neighborhood crime rates. Christie Wood is the qualified experienced leader we need. Please join many of us voting for Christie Wood on Nov. 5.
