Medicine Man Pharmacy was the recipient of the 2019 Bob Dominguez Achievement Award, which recognizes an outstanding community pharmacy, defined by the ability to go above and beyond in helping patients and the communities, become better business owners and provide innovative care.

Medicine Man operates 10 stores in North Idaho communities. Founder Brian Jorgensen opened the first Medicine Man Pharmacy on Ironwood Drive in Coeur d’Alene in 1978. Barry Feely owns a store in Coeur d’Alene and Athol, and two in Hayden. Don Smith owns two stores in Post Falls and one in Rathdrum. Michelle Duhon owns Medicine Man’s Sandpoint location and Shane and Amiee Stuermer own the Bonners Ferry store.

The Medicine Man Group was created by Jorgensen, Feely and Smith to keep a check on the business model and to create cohesion in advertising and marketing the business. Their marketing strategies, led by Bridget Hanna, utilize social media and design appeal to provide valuable and interesting information to clients. Community outreach and sponsorships also factor into the marketing mix, along with programs like drug takebacks for unused or expired medications. Visitors to www.medmanpharmacy.com can find helpful information and videos on a range of topics provided by the pharmacy.

The Bob Dominguez Achievement Award is presented by Well Served Pharmacy Community (WSPC).
