INTERNET: Out of reach for some

| October 2, 2019 1:00 AM

Isn’t it wonderful to live in Coeur d’Alene? Post Falls? Rathdrum? Ah, yes, such a wonderful place to live. Everything is wonderful here. Never mind that when you need to access the internet, it depends on where you live.

If you live outside the city limits, forget it. You have to drive to the library to access anything, even a plane ticket or a doctor’s appointment. Oh, let’s talk about DirecTV. DirecTV is putting the squeeze on its customers again. It’s not the first time. A few weeks ago they cut off NBC and ABC. Now, they are getting ready to cut off CBS. Of course, the real reason is that they want everyone to buy the NFL channels. But they will never admit that.

Never mind. Anywhere else in the USA, you could pick up these channels, but not Kootenai County. They charge us nearly $100 a month for reruns of ancient garbage. But… what! You can’t watch the NFL! Oh, no. You can’t watch the evening news, or “Jeopardy,” or anything else that you want to watch. Just watch reruns of “Bewitched” or “MASH.” We will shovel this swill forward.

When will those of us who live 2.5 miles outside the city get Wi-Fi? Oh, yeah, maybe, when the good ole boys get the money to be put in their mausoleums.

Maybe you people should wake up and vote for people who care about something other than guns and birth control. Vote for those who care about the infrastructure and saving water and modernizing our area. And, remember, all these geriatric people moving here from California are not our friends.
