KIDS: Expose to many ideas

| November 29, 2019 12:00 AM

I applaud the library and its patrons for having fun with the response to the book hider. But I think that an important point has been ignored. The hider said that he wants to protect the minds of impressionable children.

Much evidence shows that the way to protect children of any age is to expose them to a wide range of ideas and discuss them openly. This prepares them to understand their world and function as an adult. Children sheltered when young often go “off the Rails” when they grow up and encounter the world.
