- On Nov. 19, three North Idaho College alums were honored at the NIC Foundation Scholarship Celebration dinner. Richard “Dick” Compton, former Kootenai County commissioner, Idaho senator, and a 1953 NIC graduate, was awarded the Distinguished Alumni of the Year award. Sherry Wallis, community development officer for STCU and a strong advocate for NIC, was the recipient of the Honorary Alumna of the Year Award. Josh Gittel, current NIC senior accountant and former president of the Associated Students of NIC, was honored with the 2019 Alumni of the Year Award.

- Government Way in Hayden, between Hayden and Honeysuckle avenues, will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 4:55 to 5:45 p.m., to accommodate the Hayden Lights Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony. The road will reopen to traffic immediately after the parade has passed.
