IDFG seeks comments on turkey, otter proposals

Public comments on upland game, turkey and furbearer seasons is being sought by the Idaho Fish and Game.

Proposals being considered by Fish and Game include adding units 7 and 9 to the list of units open to general turkey hunting seasons in the spring and fall, expanding the special unit turkey tag to all units in the Panhandle, and extending the Panhandle’s fall turkey general hunt from Dec. 31 to Jan. 31.

An archery-only upland game animal and bird season in Farragut State Park’s wildlife management area concurrent with archery white-tailed deer season is also being considered. In addition, the creation of an archery-only spring turkey hunt in Farragut State Park’s WMA is being considered.

Fish and game is also considering increasing the Panhandle river otter harvest quota from 40 to 45.

Season proposals can be reviewed and commented at the Fish and Game website. Open houses are scheduled from 5. to 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Panhandle Region office in Coeur d’Alene, and between 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Ponderay Events Center in Ponderay.
