CROSS COUNTRY
North Idaho XC qualifies 30 for nationals: North Idaho XC traveled to TrackTown USA to compete in the USATF Junior Olympic Pacific Northwest XC Championship on Nov. 23.
The course distances ranged from 2,000 to 5,000 meters, depending on age group. Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., provided a venue that started on turf, transitioned from grass to wood bark — added a few tricky hills just for fun — and finished on a bright blue track.
Over 1,000 runners from Washington, Oregon, Alaska and the Inland Northwest competed on Saturday, and 30 North Idaho XC runners qualified for the national race (97% of the team). Also, 25 NIXC runners achieved a personal record (PR) for the year. Results follow.
Next up is USATF Junior Olympic National XC Championships in Madison, Wis., on Dec. 14.
