All-star volleyball match for seniors set for Monday
at Coeur d’Alene High
COEUR d’ALENE — An all-star volleyball match for high school seniors from District 1 and 2 schools is scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene High School.
Players from Coeur d’Alene, Lake City, Post Falls, Lewiston, Sandpoint, Lakeland, Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy, Timberlake, Priest River, Kellogg and Clark Fork are expected to play, said Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis, who spearheaded the inaugural event.
“We hope to make it an annual event,” she said.
Hines, Smith head high school all-state soccer teams
Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy junior forward Sarah Hines was named 3A girls soccer Player of the Year, and Charter coach Stacy Smith was named 3A girls Coach of the Year, by the Idaho High School Soccer Coaches Association and the United Soccer Coaches of Idaho.
Cd’A Charter junior defender Riley Jo Anderson and sophomore midfielder Isabella Lucky were named to the 3A girls all-state first team. Junior midfielder Naomi Connolley of Grangeville was also named to the first team.
Bonners Ferry junior defender Dalin Foster was named to the 3A boys second team.
Lake City senior midfielder Maddy Lasher was named to the 5A girls first team, and Lake City senior midfielder Maddy Smith was named to the 5A girls second team.
Coeur d’Alene junior goalkeeper Cooper Proctor and Lake City senior midfielder Jackson Henkle each earned 5A boys honorable mention.
Sandpoint had six players named to the 4A girls first team — junior keeper Hattie Larson, sophomore defender Emma Thielbahr, senior defender Kandall Rubright, senior midfielder Kiley Webster, sophomore midfielder Piper Frank and junior forward Jordie Breeden. Conor Baranski of Sandpoint was named 4A girls Coach of the Year.
