Marilyn Jean (Coker) Bohanan, 66

Marilyn Jean (Coker) Bohanan, age 66, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2019, with her daughter by her side. Marilyn was born Aug. 27, 1953, to Clarence and Marie Coker, in Evansville, Ind. She spent her youth growing up in Olivehurst, Calif., before moving to Yakima, Wash., in 1967, where she graduated from AC Davis High School, in 1971. She married Randy Bohanan in 1973.

Marilyn spent most of her career at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, where she worked as an admitting representative and supervisor for over 20 years. She retired in 2005 and later moved to Post Falls, Idaho, to be closer to her family.

Marilyn loved watching sports of any kind, especially baseball. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and playing cards with friends, but above everything, Marilyn loved her family. She was an amazing mother and grandmother to her daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters. Any time she could spend with her family was cherished time. She was a woman of kindness, compassion, generosity, strength and resilience. She endured so much physically in her life, but rarely complained.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be;

So he put his arms around you, and whispered, “Come to Me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away;

And although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.

A Golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Bohanan; mother, Marie Merrill; brother, Clarence Coker Jr.; and her sister, Carolyn Weatherly. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Shawn Belton; granddaughters Shannon and Sierra Belton; father, Clarence Coker; sisters Mary (Larry) Schroeder, Joyce Hicks and Patty Wycoff; brother, Robert Coker; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to all those who have cared for Marilyn over the last few years of her life. The kindness and compassion that was shown to her and her family was greatly appreciated.
