Hammer and sickle symbol for hypocrites
At long last Coeur d’Alene has a monument to Hypocrites, celebrating their irrational and selective outrage at perceived random offenses.
I am referring, of course, to the swastika, blessed by Jennifer Drake and the Arts Commission and prominently displayed in Riverstone with the stated purpose of making people “feel uncomfortable” ... wait ... did I say swastika? I meant hammer and sickle.

The hammer and sickle, icon and constant reminder of the thermonuclear apocalypse that very nearly consumed the world. Many have vivid childhood memories of “Duck and Cover” drills where we marched out of our classrooms and knelt on the textured concrete of a walkway with hands clasped behind our necks, remaining frozen and silent until the all-clear bell sounded. Our “Safe Spaces” were bomb shelters, stocked with water and crackers and radiation dosimeters. There were instructions on how to convert empty water barrels into toilets and charts showing how many days it would take for radiation to fall to safe levels.
The hammer and sickle proudly stands in our community. Its very existence is a monument to Hypocrites. You see, Hypocrites will bully and threaten an employer if an employee writes something they find “offensive.”
Hypocrites will picket and march against a private gathering where the speaker may say something that they don’t approve of. Hypocrites will huff and puff and complain at a political cartoon that they interpret as objectionable or demand the removal of a flag or bulldoze historical monuments.
Hypocrites squeal for the banishment of those not committed to their version of diversity. Hypocrites will, lacking any authority or mandate, virtue signal as if they represent an entire population proclaiming “This is NOT who WE are!”
Yet place these same self-aggrandizing Hypocrites before an icon representing the most destructive, hateful, murderous ideology of the 20th century and they fall mute. No protests, no marches, no demands to excise this offense, no calls for its removal. Crickets ...
The hammer and sickle stands as a touchstone, demonstrating for the rest of us by its presence that the Hypocrites are simply empty husks of ersatz outrage with the same moral authority as toddlers and small yapping dogs.
