Wendell Adams, 78
Wendell Adams joined his father up in heaven on Nov. 12, 2019, after complications and a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Wendell was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Nov. 28, 1940, to Lavere and Genevive (Bateman) Adams, and was the youngest of eight children. He attended school in both Careywood and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
After high school, he joined the Marines and served four years honorably. Wendell met his wife, Cathy Slater, in Coeur d’Alene, and they enjoyed 56 wonderful years of marriage. Shortly after getting married, Wendell and Cathy settled in Hayden, Idaho, where they built a home and raised their four children. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Wendell is survived by his wife and children, Wendy Adams, Jennie (Larry) McDowell, Todd (Mary) Adams and Jeff (Angela) Adams. Grandchildren include Kaleo Adams, Travis and Brandie McDowell, William and Wyatt Kerstens and Kyler and Brielle “BB” Adams.
He retired from Kaiser Aluminum after working 38 years as a millwright. He spent a lifetime farming and raising registered Suffolk sheep that he would sell at several of the best sheep and ram sales in the country. His children helped in the farm business and he passed his farming skills on to his grandchildren. He always said he met so many wonderful people in the sheep business.
Wendell had a passion for hunting, which he learned as a child from his father and older siblings. He was proud to pass these skills on to his sons. Fishing was another enjoyment and looking for firewood with his brothers and family was always fun. Family and friends have great memories from camping excursions. He always had fun visiting with family and friends.
Wendell was greatly loved and will be forever missed by those he left behind.
