HOCKEY: Fan penalizes Press

I am an avid reader of the Coeur d’Alene Press and am usually satisfied with the amount of local news coverage. However, I must express that I was greatly displeased at your lack of coverage of the Spokane Chiefs’ win against the Kelowna Rockets.

Our local boys played COMMENDABLY at every level to pull off a 6-1 win against a better ranked team. Their game had more than 6,200 fans on the edge of their seats (and not just because they got chippy), yet their achievement didn’t even warrant a small paragraph in regular story font summarizing their accomplishments. Instead, they received a snippet hidden in the fine print under the WHL standings.

I realize it was a busy weekend for the sports department but couldn’t you have reduced the story on USC vs. Arizona State since they’re not exactly local teams? Please improve your coverage of our hockey team so you don’t find yourselves in the penalty box by their local fans.
