Carol Sue (Ward) Murphy, 77

Carol Sue (Ward) Murphy went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene. She was born on Sept. 9, 1942, to Robert K. and Vera June Ward, in Brownsville, Pa. She then moved to Renton, Wash. Later they moved to Wallace, Idaho. She spent 12 years with the ‘Class of ’60.’ As a young girl, she joined the Blue Birds, Camp Fire and Rainbow Girls. In her high school years, she was an avid skier and spent lots of weekends on the slopes of Lookout Mountain.

She loved to sing. She spent years in church and school choirs, along with Triple Trio. When she was at North Idaho Junior College she played the part of Mabel in the production of ‘Pirates of Penzance,’ a highlight of her singing. Later, she had parts in other productions, which kept her singing for years.

On May 27, 1961, she married Richard L. Murphy; they were friends that had known each other since they were 12. They had one son, Michael. She also had three grandchildren: Alechia of Coeur d’Alene; Michael, also of Coeur d’Alene and Linzie of Rathdrum. She had eight great-grandchildren to dote on.

She was a member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years. In the early years of her marriage, she followed Richard around while he served 20 years in the military. In 1980, they retired to Post Falls, Idaho, and she opened the Porcelain Parlor in their home, doing porcelain dolls of all kinds. She loved working with people and making her dolls. She taught doll classes for years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Vera and sister, Juneann.

A memorial service will be held in April of 2020. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Sue to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
