County coroner moved delayed
Plans to move the Kootenai County coroner office out of its current location at the Elections Office, 1808 N. Third St., to a building near the sheriff’s office have been delayed.
The sole bid to remodel office space for the coroner at the Pierce Clegg Work Release Center, 250 E. Dalton Ave., came in at $95,000, considerably higher than anticipated, said county consultant and project manager Shawn Riley.
The bid was submitted by Ginno Construction Co. of Coeur d’Alene.
The project will be rebid. Riley said the move is still anticipated by next spring.
The move to the work release center will improve safety and security for the coroner’s office, Riley said.
At the Elections Office, there is nothing to keep the public from entering the coroner’s office, prompting security concerns, he said.
