RATHDRUM — The Rathdrum Area Chamber of Commerce honored some of its finest citizens and organizations during its annual celebration Saturday.

Rhonda Story of the Rathdrum Senior Center was chosen 2019 Citizen of the Year.

Story has lived in Rathdrum for eight years.

“She knows everyone and everyone knows her,” said Jane Pierce, executive director of the Chamber.

According to Pierce, here are some of the attributes people mentioned in supporting Story as Citizen of the Year:

- She goes above and beyond to do as much as she can to help anyone, whether that be a physical, mental or monetary challenge.

- She takes people to medical appointments and haircuts.

- She makes sure citizens who need wood in winter have it.

- She’s brought funding to the Rathdrum Senior Center through bingo, rummage sales, craft bazaars, facility rental and more.

“She’s revitalized Rathdrum Senior Center, providing a gathering place and family for our most honored citizens,” said Pierce.

Among other honorees Saturday, Seright’s Ace Hardware won Business of the Year; Furry Farm Rescue was named Rathdrum Nonprofit of the Year; and Connie Ann Vigil was chosen Ambassador of the Year.
