COEUR d’ALENE — Since 1986, The Coeur d’Alene Resort has captivated hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors with a magical holiday experience known as the Holiday Light Show. Each holiday season, The Resort is decked out with more than 250 displays featuring over 1.5 million lights.

A snow-kissed floating boardwalk, festive carolers each night, sweet treats, fireworks, twinkling holiday trees, and more await during The Holiday Light Show.

The Holiday Light Show Opening Ceremony is Nov. 29, beginning at 5 p.m. The show ranked No. 4 on USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Contest for the “Top 10 Holiday Light Shows in America.” Clint Schroeder, publisher of The Press, will lead the traditional countdown.

On the day after Thanksgiving, the ceremony includes a lighted parade through downtown, Christmas carols, candle lighting and an enormous fireworks display over Lake Coeur d’Alene. Attendees have an opportunity to preview displays during Santa’s Sneak Peek. Santa’s Sneak Peek begins Nov. 16 and runs through Nov. 27. The 2019 Coeur d’Alene Resort Holiday Light Show runs from Nov. 29 through New Year’s Day.

Every night, families embark on the Journey to the North Pole Cruise. The cruise carries revelers across Lake Coeur d’Alene to the North Pole, getting close up views of all the light displays. Actors bring the experience to life, with each cruise boat getting past the Grinch, who tries to sabotage the voyage. At the North Pole, Santa greets kids and calls them by name from the “nice list.” Each North Pole visit concludes with a huge fireworks finale, and one of the world’s largest floating Christmas trees, all choreographed to holiday music.
