Dale Hoover Hanson, 78

Dale Hoover Hanson, 78, a lifelong resident of Post Falls, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Nov. 5, 2019.

Dale was born Sept. 1, 1941, in Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Edith Hanson, his brother Robert “Buzzy” Hanson, and former wife Marsha Hanson.

He is survived by his former wife Jeri Dial, their children, Doreene Wirth (Jack), Shelley Rowe and Rick Hanson; Marsha’s children, Crystal Hanson and Mike Hanson (Kristopher); his grandchildren: Crystal, Christine, Justin, Johnny, Angie, Reva, Amanda, Shaleen, Cody and Patty; and his 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Donald Hanson, Gail Dixon (twin), and Kay Clarke (Bill); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dale loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting, with boating being his favorite activity. Countless memories are shared among family of his grand fishing expeditions with his brother Buzzy and his hunting buddies. On occasion, he could be found riding his bike along the Centennial Trail, enjoying nature and the beauty of the community he adored. Whenever possible, he would visit his favorite fishing spot located in Bayview, Idaho.

He loved being with his family — always supplying cookies for his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who gave him the nickname “cookie grandpa.” And his smile … what a charmer!

Enduring Dale’s wishes, no viewing or services will be held. He will be truly missed by his family and friends and will always be remembered as the most willing and able to lend a helping hand, putting others ahead of himself.

A private family memorial will be held summer 2020 in Bayview. Details to follow via Crystal Hanson, 208-392-7558, and Doreene Wirth, 208-819 2448.
