- North Idaho College’s student news organization, The Sentinel, won third place for best Two-Year Feature Magazine of the Year. The College Media Association recognizes excellence in student newspapers, websites, magazines, yearbooks and radio or television stations. This year, it judged 446 total organizational entries from 186 colleges and universities.

- Take care of your holiday gift buying and support the Coeur d’Alene Public Library. The annual Holiday Library Craft Fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in the Community Room. The fair features locally made handcrafts and art. A portion of each sale benefits the Friends of the Library.

- Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden launched a new outreach tool in the fight against those who use digital technology to prey on Idaho children. The new Internet Crimes Against Children Unit website, ICACIdaho.org, includes resources for parents and schools teaching young people about the potential risks associated with being online.

- The Coeur d’Alene School District presented the Elks Lodge No. 1254 with its Inspiration Award for providing the district’s third-graders with dictionaries. The lodge presented 1,877 dictionaries to children in Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum and several area charter schools.
