NIC Booster Club luncheon
at Le Peep on Tuesday
COEUR d’ALENE — North Idaho College coaches will provide season updates and previews at the North Idaho College Booster Club luncheon at noon Tuesday at the Le Peep restaurant in the Riverstone complex in Coeur d’Alene.
There will be updates on soccer and volleyball as well as information from the head coaches in winter sports.
The public is welcome to attend the luncheon. The NIC Booster Club meets on the second and last Tuesday of each month at noon at various locations in the community.

WSU kicker Mazza named
Lou Groza Award semifinalist
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Washington State redshirt sophomore Blake Mazza was named a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, the Palm Beach County Sport Commission announced.
Mazza is one of 20 kickers up for the award given to the nation’s top collegiate place-kicker. Former Cougar kicker Erik Powell received the same recognition during the 2017 season.
Mazza, from Plano, Texas, entered the week tied for seventh in the county in PAT (41 for 41) and tied for No. 11 in the country in points (80). Mazza is 13 for 13 on field goal attempts and connected on a pair of 50-yard attempts (50 against New Mexico State, made career-long 51-yarder at Utah), tied for second-most 50-yard kicks in the country. Last season, Mazza was third in the Pac-12 in points (90) and set a single-season record with 60 made extra points.
Bayley’s bid for Korn Ferry Tour ends in second stage
of qualifying
McKINNEY, Texas — Derek Bayley’s bid to qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour came to an end last week in the second stage of qualifying school.
Bayley, of Rathdrum, finished tied for 66th at the second stage at TPC Craig Ranch. A total of 23 golfers (top 20 and ties) advanced to the final stage of qualifying for the tour, formerly named the Web.com Tour. The Korn Ferry Tour is one step below the PGA Tour.
Bayley, the former Lakeland High and Washington State standout, is weighing his options for next season. He played on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica and the Mackenzie Tour (PGA Tour Canada) this season.
